Delta passenger claims she was almost thrown off flight over her cat’s meows!

A travel influencer flying from Seattle to Salt Lake City was allegedly warned by a Delta Airlines crew member to silence her or risk being deboarded from the plane, reported New York Post.
Janelle Rupkalvis, who was traveling with her partner and their four-year-old cat, Asparagus, shared her experience in a TikTok video that quickly gained attention.
Rupkalvis, 30, said the incident happened on February 19, shortly after they settled into their first-class seats. Expecting a routine reminder to keep Asparagus in his carrier, she said she was instead shocked when the flight attendant reportedly said, “If your cat doesn’t stop meowing, we’re gonna have to ask you to get off the plane.”
She said she explained that Asparagus wasn’t being disruptive but was simply meowing due to the commotion in the cabin. “He’s a cat. He’s not screaming—just meowing because it’s a stressful situation,” she said in her TikTok video, which has since been viewed 11,000 times.
Knowing that Delta allows pets in carriers under the seat, Rupkalvis decided to confirm the airline’s policy. She texted Delta’s customer service and was told that pets must be “passive” but not necessarily silent—contradicting the flight attendant’s warning.
Feeling that the situation caused unnecessary stress, Rupkalvis asked Delta if they would offer any compensation. The airline responded by giving her and her partner a combined 30,000 Delta miles.
According to New York Post, Rupkalvis said she was satisfied with the resolution and happy to clear up the misunderstanding about Delta’s pet policy.
