Hry min slams Pb for blocking water supply
Rohtak: Cabinet minister Vipul Goel on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Punjab govt, accusing it of playing petty politics by blocking the flow of water to Haryana. Speaking at a felicitation ceremony held at Janata College in Charkhi Dadri, the minister said water is a shared natural resource and no state has the right to obstruct its flow.
"The Punjab govt is indulging in shallow politics over water. Water is everyone's right, and each state should receive its fair share. Politics over such essential resources must stop," he said.
While targeting former chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, he alleged that Kejriwal too tried to politicise the issue of water and eventually faced defeat at the hands of the people. "Kejriwal misled the public with false and baseless statements. The people of Delhi responded to his actions during the elections, and he couldn't even retain his own seat," Goel remarked.
Vipul Goel arrived as the chief guest at the event, which was organised to honour students for their academic excellence. The minister felicitated the meritorious students with certificates of appreciation and was welcomed with garlands and bouquets upon his arrival at the college.
Commenting on the issue of caste-based census, the minister stressed that it is the need of the hour. He said despite ruling the country for six decades, the Congress party never initiated a caste census. "Now Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking that step. It's essential to address what society needs at the right time. The caste census is timely and relevant, and hence it is being carried out," Goel added.
