JIND: Former Union minister Birender Singh, an outspoken tall leader, said that the governments' offices in BJP-ruled states are being run by the central government.
“I have been a Cabinet minister during the BJP government’s regime, and even then, the government ran from a single office. I say that instead of decentralizing the chief minister's office, centralization has been done. This is not just Haryana's issue but common in BJP-ruled states. Before the Bharatiya Janata Party government came to power in 2014, this system didn't exist, where the Prime Minister's office runs the country. The decentralization was supposed to happen, but now, centralization is occurring,” he added.
"When the BJP talks about a triple engine, here there is only one engine. The second engine is missing. As you said, the government runs from the center. How can you expect municipal committees or corporations to function properly? They talk about a triple engine, but it is an empty engine, with no fuel. The role that Khattar played, Nayab Saini is playing the same role. Both governments are the same, there is no major change. If there has been any change, it is that they have tried to disrupt our social fabric. The change is that they are trying to entrap us in caste politics. I thank the people of Haryana. Maybe because of their cleverness, the vote was divided, but socially, we are still united. Our society has not been divided. I say that the day the country will face tough times and the situation deteriorates, the people who play caste politics will also see their conditions worsen", said Singh. Bangar’s tall leader was speaking with media persons in Uchana Kalan town of Jind district in a program held on the occasion of his birthday.
Speaking about the farmers’ issues, he said that the "issue of farmers is not just Haryana's or Punjab's but it is the fight of the entire country. Whether the farmer unions agree with me or not, there is not one union, but many. All the farmer unions should take this decision together. First, they should unite and fight. It is not right that farmers in Maharashtra are fighting separately. Farmers need to fight their battle on a national level, united. It cannot be said that we are non-political. If you want to get political, then fight the battle as a political entity. You will gain the majority, and the fight will happen. When will it happen? I don't know. It is likely to happen because in a country of 140 crore people, 70% of the population has not benefited from the economic system. The reforms that started in 1991 benefited the middle class, but the farmers did not gain from them", he added.
When asked about the opposition leader position in Haryana, he said, "the person who did not bow to pressure for five months means the high command will take decisions on its own, without pressure. Even after ten years, Parliament can run without an opposition leader. You want to talk politically about whether Hooda sahib will be made the leader or not? Wait for the right time. Even today, Bhupinder Hooda has not been declared, but the proceedings are being conducted in the same way as he used to do. After the high command makes its decision, we will know. Whether or not someone becomes the opposition leader in Haryana is not a big deal. The real issue is that the organization in Haryana needs to be strengthened", said Singh.
