Two booked for killing stray dog, attacking judicial officer’s husband
Dehradun: A case has been registered against two men for allegedly assaulting the husband of a Haridwar-based judicial officer when he tried to stop them from beating a stray dog to death in the Nehru Colony area in Dehradun on Sunday.
Police said the complainant, Gagan Kumar, and his wife were heading towards Kargi Chowk from Rispana Bridge on Saturday at 9pm when they spotted the two accused – identified as Vishal and Pankaj Vishwakarma – both residents of Ajabpur, brutally thrashing a stray dog with rods.
Sub-inspector Kusumlata Purohit, who is probing the case, said the couple stopped their car to intervene and save the animal. "When Kumar confronted the two accused, they attacked him and threatened to kill him ‘like the dog'. His wife intervened and managed to save him before the attackers fled the scene. A case was registered under relevant sections of BNS and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. A probe is on to nab the two," said Purohit.
