NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to AAP leader and former chief minister
Atishi regarding a petition challenging her election on grounds of purported corrupt practices during the recent assembly polls.
Justice Jyoti Singh likewise issued notice to the Election Commission of India, Delhi Police and the returning officer of Kalkaji assembly constituency, where Atishi secured victory.
The court scheduled the subsequent hearing for July 30.
During proceedings, counsel representing the Election Commission of India and the returning officer raised objections to their inclusion as parties in the petition.
The petition by Kamaljit Singh Duggal and Ayush Rana contested Atishi's election, asserting that she and her election agents employed corrupt practices during the polls.
The petition, filed through advocate T Singhdev, sought nullification of the election.
Atishi emerged victorious from the Kalkaji constituency, surpassing her BJP rival Ramesh Bidhuri by 3,521 votes. The petitioners reside in the Kalkaji area.
The polling occurred on February 5 and results were announced on February 8.
