HC quashes FIR against head of Kavlem Mutt

Panaji: The high court of Bombay at Goa quashed the FIR filed by the Ponda police against the head of the Kavlem Mutt, Sivananda Saraswati Swami, for sale of the mutt’s property.
Swami was seeking relief from the court. The head of the mutt requested the court to direct the Ponda police not to investigate further, take any coercive action or file a chargesheet pending the petition in the high court. The police investigation officer objected to the petition in the high court.
The police claimed that the petitioner was not assisting the investigation. They contended that the power of attorney executed by Swami on Feb 20, 2018, was bogus and that he used it to prepare a sales letter in March 2018 in the name of Swami who passed away on March 3, 2005.
