HYDERABAD: Ramagundam police in Telangana busted an inter-state ganja smuggling racket in Godavarikhani on Thursday, arresting four persons and seizing nearly a quintal of ganja along with two cars used for transportation. The total value of the seized contraband is estimated at Rs 49 lakh.
Police identified the arrested accused as Uday Veer, Raj Lodhi Sanju, Keshav Khara, and Somanth Khora. They were taken into custody and have been sent to judicial remand. Meanwhile, two other suspects linked to the operation are absconding.
According to Ramagundam Police Commissioner M. Srinivas, the accused were smuggling the narcotic from Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh to Maharashtra via Godavarikhani. Based on a tip-off, police teams, including the Task Force, Special Branch, and local units, conducted vehicle checks at Godavarikhani II Town police station limits and intercepted two vehicles carrying the contraband.
Srinivas stated that Telangana police have been implementing stringent enforcement measures in line with the state government's strict anti-drug policies. Investigations are ongoing to trace the absconding suspects and determine further links in the smuggling network.
