Nashik: Water resources minister Girish Mahajan said there were some technical issues with regards to construction of Jal Jeevan Mission water supply schemes, and these would be sorted at the earliest.
Speaking to newspersons after unfurling the national flag on May 1, Maharashtra Day, Mahajan also admitted delay in starting the Metro Neo project promised to Nashikites about seven years ago, adding that the "picture would change soon".
Replying to food and drug minister Narhari Zirwal's claim that Jal Jeevan Mission was a "failed scheme", the WRD Minister said, "It cannot be a blanket statement, though there could be some issues at some places which need to be resolved. We know very well that the sources went dry in some places; similarly, in other cases, there were issues with the laying of pipelines and other things."
Reviews were being done at regular intervals, and actions taken against those who failed to provide support for running of the schemes. "There are many instances of the scheme being very successful, and there are only a few examples where the scheme is yet to be completed," he added.
About Metro Neo, the minister said there were some technical hiccups which had been cleared, and he hoped that the Metro Neo would be launched soon.
The minister also conducted a meeting with various govt departments in the backdrop of Simhastha Kumbhmela, based on which Rs 2200-crore works were sanctioned by the govt. "Funds will not be a problem for Kumbhmela works, which will conclude in time before the fair begins in 2026," said the minister.
The minister also welcomed the caste census that would be conducted in the country, saying it was a historical decision based on the demand of a large number of people.
