Panaji: A North Goa court sentenced Alistair Pulicar and Caitan D'Souza to four years of simple imprisonment for attempted murder at Calangute in Jan 2013.
The court considered that both the accused are young; one is married with a child and cares for a retired widow, while the other, a bachelor, supports his elderly parents. The court also observed their conduct and found they were almost regular in attending court. It stated that maximum leniency could be shown by imposing the minimum punishment of sentence and fine.
On Jan 19, 2013, a Rajasthan tourist, Sonu Soni, and Krishna Soni were walking towards Tito's Disco Club when they encountered a large crowd. Sonu stated in his complaint that as they passed the Mambo’s Club, Krishna was no longer with him. He turned back and found that the accused were assaulting him.
When he went to rescue him, the accused became furious and started assaulting both of them with a knife, causing sharp cut injuries. Both victims ran away, but the accused chased them and assaulted them again.
