Noida: Two smugglers who used to bring marijuana from the Northeast states and supply it in Delhi-NCR were arrested on Tuesday night. The accused would take orders online, and their delivery executives would do door-to-door delivery of the drugs, which would be packaged like e-commerce parcels, hence ruling out suspicion.
About 5 kg of ganja, worth Rs 2.5 lakh, was recovered from them.
The accused Yogendra Pratap (26) and Arun alias Kanhaiya (23) are both natives of Kannauj and currently live in Sector 121.
The accused were caught during a routine patrolling on Tuesday night at the Gadhi roundabout. Police signalled them to stop their bike, however, they turned towards the Parthala flyover and tried to escape through the service road. The team surrounded and caught both of them.
During interrogation, the accused revealed they sourced ganja from Shillong and other Northeastern regions. They packaged the drugs in wrappers of a reputed company, sent them through delivery services, and received payments online.
