A female Maoist was killed in an encounter with security forces on the borders of Dantewada and Bijapur districts in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division. The encounter occurred during an anti-Maoist operation, and an INSAS rifle was recovered. Previously, 50 Maoists surrendered just before PM Modi's visit, responding to ongoing appeals to eschew violence.

A team of security personnel was out on an anti-Maoist operation when an encounter broke out between Maoists and jawans. The firing and search are still going on.

Police officials said that the body of a female Maoist was recovered from the site of the encounter along with an INSAS rifle and daily use materials .
On Sunday, 50 Maoists carrying a bounty of Rs 68 lakh surrendered minutes before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Chhattisgarh.
Union home minister Amit Shah has appealed armed cadres to give up violence and surrender to avail benefits under the state's rehabilitation policy.
