14-year-old boy drowns in Krishna River
Vijayawada: A 14-year-old boy drowned in the Krishna River while taking a holy bath with his family near Tadepalli of Guntur district on Monday evening. The deceased was identified as Akula Murari, a resident of Venkatagiri in Tirupati district.
According to Tadepalli SI Pratap Kumar, Murari arrived in Tadepalli on Monday with his family to attend a three-day workshop at the Pyramid Meditation Center, which is part of the Mahanadu spiritual gathering. On Monday evening, the family went to the Krishna River for a holy bath when Murari accidentally slipped and drowned.
Family members alerted the police, who reached the spot and initiated rescue operations with the help of SDRF personnel and professional swimmers. After hours of searching, Murari's body was found. Tadepalli police have registered a case and are investigating. The body was shifted to Mangalagiri govt hospital for postmortem.
