Soumitra Chatterjee in Manas Basu’s short film ‘Aurora Borealis’

After Sujay Ghosh’s ‘Ahalya’, Soumitra Chatterjee is all set for another short film. In Manas Basu’s ‘Aurora Borealis’ the iconic actor plays the lead role of Ratul who is a veteran actor. It will be a 22-minute short film. The shooting has already been wrapped up. It reportedly took only five hours to complete the shooting.
As per the story, being an aged actor, Ratul doesn’t get calls from modern directors.The long-lost stardom makes him gloomy. He can’t digest the negligence shown to him and the delayed payments also make him furious. The interesting part is, most of the film will see a silent Soumitra Chatterjee. He has only five dialogues in the entire film.
Up next for Soumitra is Anindya Chatterjee’s ‘Manojder Adbhut Bari’, based on the famous story by Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay. In this thriller, he will be seen opposite Sandhya Roy. The two veteran actors have previously shared screen space in Bengali classics such as ‘Asani Sonket’, ‘Arohan’, ‘Debipokkho’ and others. Apart from Soumitra and Sandhya, the film has Abir Chatterjee in the lead.
