Why 'The Void' could be MCU's most dangerous villain yet; read here?

As the highly anticipated "Thunderbolts" hit theaters globally today (May 2, 2025), a key question lingers in the minds of fans who are yet to watch the film, fueled by the official trailers: What exactly is the nature of 'The Void'? Trailers have showcased Lewis Pullman in a shadowy and menacing light, credited as Robert “Bob” Reynolds or Sentry.
Adding to the intrigue, Pullman's character ominously declares in one trailer, "I’m the Void. There’s no use fighting." This statement is immediately followed by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) proclaiming, "He’s invincible, all-powerful, stronger than all of the Avengers rolled into one," a claim seemingly validated by The Void's subsequent display of immense power.
However, a contrasting piece of dialogue in another trailer, delivered by Fontaine’s assistant, Mel (Geraldine Viswanathan), introduces an element of confusion. Mel warns, "Sentry's gone off the rails and he's dangerous. The Avengers are gone. No one is coming to save the day," prompting the central question: Are The Void and Sentry distinct entities or two sides of the same coin?

Marvel Studio’s ‘Thunderbolts*’ released today on May 2 in the US and May 1st in India. The film made an earlier premier in the UK, releasing on the 22nd of April, 2025.
