Rakesh Roshan has stepped down as director of 'Krrish 4', marking a significant change for the franchise. He expressed no regrets, citing the need to pass on the baton while he can oversee the process. The film faces challenges due to high production costs and shifting audience preferences.
Rakesh Roshan has confirmed his decision to step down as the director of 'Krrish 4', marking a significant change for the beloved superhero franchise. As speculation mounts about who will take over the reins, Roshan has acknowledged that it's time to pass on the responsibility.
Talking to Bollywood Hungama, Roshan addressed the speculation about 'Krrish 4', acknowledging that it's time to hand over the reins. He explained, “The day has to come when I have to pass on the baton. I should do it when I’m in my senses, so I can oversee the process and ensure it’s being done correctly. Tomorrow, if I’m not in my senses and I have to pass it on, I won’t know what they’re making.”
Rakesh shared that he has no regrets about stepping away from directing 'Krrish 4'. He noted, “That chance we have to take. Also, there’s no guarantee that if Rakesh Roshan directs Krrish 4, it’ll be a blockbuster. It might be the other way round as well.”
The 'Krrish' franchise began with 'Koi Mil Gaya' in 2003, followed by 'Krrish' in 2006 and 'Krrish 3' in 2013, all helmed by Rakesh Roshan and starring Hrithik Roshan. Over a decade later, the path to 'Krrish 4' has been complicated by escalating production costs and shifting audience preferences, posing new challenges for this beloved superhero series.
Reports indicated that Siddharth Anand, initially involved as a producer, was tasked with securing a studio to support Krrish 4's substantial Rs 700 crore budget. However, concerns about the film's viability in a post-Marvel era, combined with the lengthy gap since the last installment, led to Anand and director Karan Malhotra reportedly exiting the project.
