Is Rajinikanth teaming up with Vetri Maaran after being impressed by the script?
Rajinikanth, the legendary superstar of Indian cinema, is currently busy shooting for his much-awaited film 'Coolie', helmed by director Lokesh Kanagaraj. While fans eagerly await the film, fresh reports indicate that the superstar might also team up with another celebrated Tamil filmmaker.
According to a recent report by 123Telugu, acclaimed director Vetrimaaran narrated a story to Rajinikanth, and the superstar was reportedly quite impressed. However, details about their discussion remain under wraps, and there has been no official confirmation regarding the collaboration. If this project materializes, it will mark a significant milestone, as Vetrimaaran is known for his raw and intense storytelling, making this potential partnership highly exciting for cinephiles.
Meanwhile, 'Coolie' continues to be in the spotlight with speculation surrounding actress Pooja Hegde’s involvement in a special dance number. If confirmed, this would be her first appearance in a Rajinikanth film. The makers, however, have not officially addressed this rumour. The film, which was initially expected to be released in May 2025, is now rumoured to hit theatres in August 2025. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, 'Coolie' is touted as a high-octane action thriller, with reports suggesting that Rajinikanth will be seen in a character with negative shades.
Adding to the film’s appeal is its stellar ensemble cast, featuring industry stalwarts like Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is also said to be making a cameo appearance in the film, but there has been no official confirmation on the same. Following 'Coolie', Rajinikanth is set to reprise his role as Muthuvel Pandian in 'Jailer 2', directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
Meanwhile, Vetrimaaran's last theatrical release was 'Viduthalai: Part 2', starring Vijay Sethupathi and Soori. He is preparing to begin his long-awaited project 'Vaadi Vaasal' with Suriya. The pre-production work for the film is on in full swing and the film is likely to go on floors this April.
