NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Sunday unleashed a stinging attack on the BJP, ridiculing its attempt to walk back statements made by its own MPs, Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma, who questioned the Supreme Court and its Chief Justice.
Dismissing outgoing BJP president JP Nadda’s public distancing as mere “damage control,” Ramesh said it would “fool nobody,” and even took a veiled swipe at PM Modi, calling it a case of “Entire Political Science reflecting itself as Entire Political Hypocrisy.”
Posting on X, Ramesh wrote: “The distancing of the outgoing BJP President from the atrocious remarks made by 2 BJP MPs on the Chief Justice of India carries little meaning. These MPs are repeat offenders... used by G2 to attack communities, institutions, and individuals... Nadda’s clarification is nothing but damage control.”

He further questioned the BJP’s silence on “equally unacceptable” comments made by a senior constitutional functionary aligned with the party and asked why no action was taken against the MPs. “Has Nadda ji issued show-cause notices to these two MPs?” he added.
Earlier, BJP president JP Nadda said that the party had “nothing to do” with the remarks made by Dubey and Sharma, calling them personal opinions.

“The BJP completely rejects these statements,” Nadda wrote on X. He added that the party holds the judiciary in the highest regard and has instructed all party members to refrain from such comments in the future.
