Arjun Erigaisi is aiming to regain his India No. 1 ranking after narrowing the gap with D Gukesh in the latest FIDE ratings. Erigaisi made a strong comeback with decisive victories in the Bundesliga, positioning himself at World No. 4. Meanwhile, R Praggnanandhaa and Aravindh Chithambaram achieved their career-high rankings, now at seventh and eleventh respectively.

Arjun Erigaisi is closing in on D Gukesh's India No. 1 position, gaining five points in FIDE's April Rating List to reach within five points of Gukesh's 2787 rating. Erigaisi's rise has also propelled him to World No. 4, overtaking Fabiano Caruana.
Erigaisi had previously lost his India No. 1 ranking to Gukesh in January following their performances at the Tata Steel Masters in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands. While Gukesh secured a runner-up finish, Erigaisi struggled with only two wins in 14 games.

The 21-year-old Erigaisi, who was previously in the 2800-Elo club, has shown strong recovery with four victories in the Bundesliga. His recent performance marks a significant comeback from his New Year decline.

Gukesh maintains his World No. 3 position in the rankings. Hikaru Nakamura holds steady at second place with 2804 points, while Magnus Carlsen continues his dominance at the top with 2837 points, a position he has held since mid-2011.
Other Indian players have also achieved notable success. R Praggnanandhaa reached a career-high ranking, moving to seventh position by displacing China's Wei Yi. Aravindh Chithambaram made remarkable progress, gaining 17.5 points to achieve his best-ever ranking of 11th position.
