The cherry blossom season has finally arrived in Japan, and so has Haas’s new livery, which will be showcased at the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix. Haas has unveiled a cherry blossom-themed livery for the event, and with team principal Ayao Komatsu being Japanese, it seems like a thoughtful gesture to win over the fans at the Suzuka Circuit. The livery beautifully incorporates the pink of cherry blossoms and has received mostly positive feedback from fans on social media.
Haas unveils cherry blossom livery
Ayao Komatsu replaced Guenther Steiner as Haas team principal in January 2024. Haas had a challenging start to the season, finishing at the bottom in the Australian Grand Prix. However, the Chinese Grand Prix proved to be a strong showing for Haas, with drivers Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman securing impressive results. Ocon finished 7th, while Bearman placed 10th at the Shanghai International Circuit. There’s no doubt they are hoping for a similarly strong performance at the Suzuka Circuit.
When Formula 1’s official X page shared images of the new Haas livery, fans showered it with tons of praise. One X user commented, “This looks really cool! Incredible performance from Haas!” Another wrote, “That’s a beautiful touch by Haas. The cherry blossom livery for Japan adds style and respect to the home crowd.” A third user said, “Beautiful livery, and it’s even more special with Ayao’s home race.” One user even ranked it among the “Top 5 liveries of all time.”
However, not all comments were entirely positive. Some fans poked fun at Haas’s lack of podium finishes. One X user quipped, “Haas going full sakura mode — now let’s see if their pace blooms or just falls like cherry blossoms after Q1 #F1 #JapaneseGP.” Another commented, “All that money going into the livery should be better invested in performance.” A further comment read, “You’d think they’d have bigger things to worry about.”
