On Saturday, Carlos Mendoza made an appearance on the "WFAN" podcast to talk about his mentality heading into the 2025 MLB season. During one of the segments of the podcast, Mendoza talked about sharing the locker room with Juan Soto. The skipper can be seen praising Soto while recalling the "first conversation" he had with the left fielder.

"My first conversation with him (Juan Soto) was just 'be yourself'. To give him credit, he was like 'hey man, I'm trying to fit in.' He's human, people have to realize that these guys, they're humans and they have feelings. Moving forward in the podcast, Carlos Mendoza seemed impressed with Juan Soto's game plans and the way he "go about his business." Adding to his statement, Mendoza said:
"It's good to see, you watch him and he's smiling, he's making jokes with his teammates, he's competing out there, he's asking the right questions. I'm encouraged, to be honest with you, because I thought it was going to take a lot more time.
