“How was your day?” asked a reporter in the post-game conference. Brad Shaw took a pensive pause and replied, “Crazy. A really good friend of mine lost his job. Been a real mentor to me in my career as a coach. Very bittersweet.” The friend, the mentor that 60 YO interim head coach for the Philadelphia Flyers, Brad Shaw, is talking about is the 66 YO former head coach for the Philadelphia Flyers, John Tortorella. It was John Tortorella’s job that Brad Shaw got! Just a day prior.

Brad Shaw shared, “I have a really crappy game card - it’s got more defense and penalty kill,”

Brad Shaw, the current interim coach for the Flyers, gathered his spirits (because he was sad for his friend, John Tortorella) and shared with the media at the post-game conference, “Once the day starts rolling, you’re prepping.” Talking about himself, Brad Shaw shared, “I have a really crappy game card - it’s got more defense and penalty kill. Doesn’t have enough stuff for forward. I even realized that my game card wasn’t even set for what I had to do tonight, but I got a lot of support from the staff. We kept most things status quo. We weren’t interested in doing a lot of tinkering.”

Praising his Philadelphia Flyers’ NHL players for their remarkable success over the Montreal Canadiens with a riveting score of 6-4 on Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center, Brad Shaw shared, “I thought the guys played hard and played smart. We finished more plays at the net, reaped the benefits, got a big enough lead that we could take home and get the win.”

The last game won by the Philadelphia Flyers was on February 25, 2025, against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Then on, the Flyers went on a losing streak for straight 6 NHL games. The debut game of Brad Shaw was won by the Philadelphia Flyers.

Cam York was benched during the Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens NHL match

Ice hockey defenseman for the Philadelphia Flyers Cam York was on the bench during the Flyers-Canadiens NHL game on Thursday. The reason cited for benching Cam York was disciplinary reasons - according to Brad Shaw.

What surprised everyone was that Cam York was all prepped up(dressed up) for the game but sat on the bench all through the end of it for 60 long minutes!
Top ice hockey defenseman Cam York was also benched during the last game against the Toronto Maple Leafs under the coaching of John Tortorella. It was Tortorella’s last game.

The Flyers had lost it brutally with a disappointing score of 7-2. However, Cam York will return with a bang on Saturday, as informed by NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman on X. Friedman wrote, “PHI coach Brad Shaw — who won his debut tonight vs Montreal — said Cam York dressed, but did not play due to a discipline issue. York is expected to play Saturday vs BUF”.
