Overtime magic by Jake Sanderson keeps hopes alive for the Ottawa Senators against the Toronto Maple Leafs

Jake Sanderson's exploits in overtime allowed the Senators to claim Game 4 over the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3, giving hope for some extra playoff games. And Ottawa remains resilient under pressure, with Linus Ullmark key to the win and some stingy special teams. Game 5 of the series promises to be just that much closer, though the Senators have gained perhaps just a slight turn in momentum.

In a thrilling match held at the Canadian Tire Centre, under great pressure as they were trailing the series 3-0 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Ottawa Senators, refusing to be extinguished, won in a nerve-wracking Game 4 of the Eastern Conference First Round with a score of 4-3. With the grit and determination of their hero, Jake Sanderson, they kept their playoff hopes alive and now shall take a spirited focus on Game 5.

Jake Sanderson and Linus Ullmark contribute to Ottawa Senators' comeback victories

Jake Sanderson was the star of the moment when a wrist shot from the left point at 17:42 of overtime broke through a sea of bodies in the crease to blast past Toronto goalie Anthony Stolarz. Sanderson added an earlier assist and showed great poise at a moment of great pressure for the Senators' fans who believed. It illustrated, once again, Ottawa's reason for appreciating his two-way game.
SANDERSON in OT has Senators ALIVE and headed to GAME 5

The penalty-kill unit of Ottawa became very useful in killing a double-minor penalty presented to Drake Batherson in overtime. Head coach Travis Green complimented the penalty team for taking a "gutsy effort" against Toronto's powerful power-play setup.
Tim Stutzle kicked off the scoring for Ottawa on the power play, taking a quick pass from Sanderson. Shane Pinto converted a shorthanded goal, which was becoming a staple of Ottawa's opportunistic nature. David Perron struck again for Ottawa later in the period, netting off a lovely feed from Artem Zub to restore their lead.
Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs kept finding answers. John Tavares and Matthew Knies netted two vital goals, while Oliver Ekman-Larsson's late equalizer sent the game to overtime. However, standing in the way of a victorious Toronto was Linus Ullmark, who, with 31 saves, played tremendously under playoff pressure and answered the critics questioning his form.
Though the Maple Leafs still have a 3-1 lead in the series, this comeback by Ottawa breathes life into this Eastern Conference battle. Game 5 will be another test of stamina, belief, and heart in Toronto.
