'Kesari 2' box office collection day 9: The Akshay Kumar starrer sees huge growth on second Saturday, earns much better than 'Jaat' and 'Ground Zero'

Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari 2' has now entered its second week but due to word of mouth, the film is holding up decently well at the box office. The film which also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday sees Akshay essay the role of C Sankaran Nair. The film had a decent opening of around Rs 7.75 crore but since then, has seen growth and even was holding steady over the weekdays. The film managed to make a mark despite the fact that Sunny Deol starrer 'Jaat' was already running in theatres and doing well. Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi's 'Ground Zero' has also released this Friday.
Kesari Chapter 2 Movie Review

The film has seen a good jump on second Saturday, which is day 9. While it made Rs 46.1 crore within 1 week, it made Rs 4.05 crore on second Friday. Now on Saturday, there was a jump in the numbers and it ended up making Rs 7 crore which is considered great. This is at par with its opening day number. This show that there is very good word of mouth surrounding the movie and many have touted it as one of Akshay Kumar's best performance. Thus, according to Sacnilk, the total collection of the film so far now stands at ₹ 57.15 crore.


Sunny Deol's 'Jaat' collected Rs 1.36 crore on Saturday and 'Ground Zero' which collected Rs 1.90 crore. Thus, 'Kesari 2' clearly dominated over these two movies with a big margin. With this trend, one can expect the film to see further growth on Sunday, which is day 10. There was a 'buy one get one' offer in some places during the weekdays which helped the business. According to Box Office India, 'Kesari 2' makers were earlier planning to release the film straight on OTT as it has a niche subject, thus a niche audience. With regards to that, it's impressive now that the film is inching towards Rs 60 crore.
