Washington Capitals entered the playoff series after seven long years - it was in the 2018 NHL season when they entered the playoff series and won the 2018 Stanley Cup. That day is not too far when they will be seen holding the 2025 Stanley Cup! Because the Washington Capitals look unstoppable. They’re so unstoppable that they did not let the Montreal Canadiens win a crucial and deciding Game 5. Game 5 could have saved a spot for the Canadiens, but the Capitals snatched it away and won the Eastern First-Round series. The real reason behind being unstoppable is something else. What could that be? Well, Alex Ovechkin, their 39-year-old captain, has all the answers. “We have fun,” Ovechkin shares the secret of being unstoppable in the best-of-seven series!

“We always believe, we support each other, we have fun,” Alex Ovechkin shares the secret of winning the first round 2025 Stanley Cup playoff series

Team unity. Team understanding. Team spirit. Team effort. Collective team enjoyment. All are parts and parcels of winning a game. If you don’t enjoy what you’re playing, you are less likely to ace it.
In the case of winning an NHL game, Alex Ovechkin says, “It doesn’t matter what happen. We stick together. And we always believe. Since Day 1, when new pieces - new faces come to the locker room, you can feel it.”
“We support each other. And the most important thing is we have fun. It doesn’t matter it’s up or down - we try to be positive and try to win the games. That’s the most important thing.” Alex Ovechkin shared with The Hockey News.

“We have a great culture, we have a great core,” Tom Wilson can’t stop praising his Washington Capitals team

Tom Wilson, right winger and alternate captain for the Capitals, shared with The Hockey News, “If you ask a bunch of those guys, they are not thinking back to two-three years ago. They are not thinking about five years ago.
Obviously, it’s on the guys that have been here to lead the way. But the pieces that we have added and what they brought to the group? They have been huge add(additions)! And they have contributed huge!
So, we have a great culture and a great core here. But all those pieces that have come in this offseason and built this team is what it’s all about. We had a really fun time as a group. And we will just keep moving forward.”

When the captain and alternate captain of a team are so encouraging, motivating, determined, positive, and humble, why won’t their team be this unstoppable? Why won’t their team win the best-of-seven series? And why won’t their team bring the 2025 Stanley Cup home? The first round just ended. Game 1 of Round 2 against the Carolina Hurricanes is around the corner, but guess what? Alex Ovechkin says, “Right now, we are focussing on Game 1, Round Two. So, yeah, we won a series, and we are going to enjoy it tonight. And tomorrow? It’s a new day, and it’s going to be a new series. So, we have to be smart, and we have to move on and game by game.”
