A 19-year-old college student, Amogh Seth, was fatally shot in Lakhimpur Kheri after being chased and attacked by six men, including the main suspect, Anmol Puri. The incident occurred near a police outpost. Amogh had earlier insulted Anmol, leading to the latter seeking revenge. Two suspects have been detained while Anmol remains at large.

BAREILLY: A 22-year-old man, along with five of his friends, accosted a 19-year-old college student on the road, thrashed him and hunted him down after making him run for his life for nearly 500 m.
As the student entered a bookstore to save his life, the assailants fired indiscriminately at him, and they escaped after.
BBA student Amogh Seth died on the spot as a bullet hit him on the chest. A shop assistant also suffered a bullet injury in the arm and was admitted to hospital. His condition is stable, said doctors.
Amogh was the son of Bharat Seth, who owns an electronics showroom in Lakhimpur city. The crime happened just 10 steps away from Mishrana police outpost in Lakhimpur Kheri district on Monday evening.
SSP Sankalp Sharma told TOI, "The main accused has been identified as Anmol Puri alias Bala (22), an advocate's assistant, and he is on the run. He was with four-five unidentified people. A murder FIR was registered against them. Two suspects have been detained."
He added, "There was a heated argument between Anmol and Amogh on Sunday, when the latter allegedly insulted the former. Anmol wanted to take revenge. We've deployed teams to nab him." An hour before the incident, IG Prashant Kumar had conducted patrolling to strengthen law and order in Lakhimpur city.
