'One of the most horrific sexual crimes': Deaf-mute Dalit girl raped, private parts burned in UP's Rampur
BAREILLY: In "one of the most horrific sexual crimes" in recent times, an 11-year-old deaf and mute Dalit girl from UP's Rampur who was raped by unidentified accused, was found on Wednesday with multiple injuries on her body, including cigarette burn marks on her private parts and bite marks.
Later in the day, police arrested a suspect, allegedly from the same village, and initiated interrogation procedures against him.
The girl, whose father is a marginal farmer from a village in the district, went missing on Tuesday evening after going to relieve herself in a field.
On Wednesday, a man from the village found her lying unconscious in a field around 500m from her home, half-naked, with her face swollen, and promptly informed her family.
Dr Anju Singh, who conducted the girl's medical examination, told TOI, "This is a clear case of rape by one or more persons as there were multiple injuries on her private parts. Her face had been struck with a blunt object, leaving it swollen.
The girl's clothes were stained with blood. We completed the medico-legal examination and referred her to a higher centre. She was terrified and unable to explain anything. It is one of the most horrific sexual crimes I have seen."
The girl's mother added, "My daughter is extremely terrified. She is getting fits after the incident."
Additional SP Atul Kumar Srivastava said an FIR has been registered based on the girl's father's complaint and three teams have been deployed to apprehend the accused. "We immediately sent the survivor to the hospital for treatment after learning about the incident. We are using CCTV footage and mobile surveillance data to track down the culprit," he added.
(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
