Bengaluru: Waterlogging persisted in several parts of Bengaluru until 11.30am on Sunday, causing traffic disruptions on Outer Ring Road (ORR), Hebbal, Bellandur, Silk Board, and Manyata Tech Park among other pockets of the city.
The downpour also caused 30 trees and 42 branches to fall in Jayanagar, Yelahanka, Hebbal, Vidyaranyapura, Rajankunte, Sahakaranagar, Thanisandra, Jakkur, and several parts of East Bengaluru. The fallen trees obstructed roads, creating further travel challenges for commuters.
On JC Road, a fallen tree caused disruptions for commuters heading towards Town Hall and City Market. Authorities recommended alternative routes via Minerva Circle and Basappa Circle, as well as Bharat Junction through Urvashi Theatre Junction. A fallen tree near Soubhagya Market on Koramangala 60-ft Road led to diversions. Commuters travelling towards 80-ft Road were advised to take Club Road instead.
According to Indian Meteorological Reports (IMD), Bengaluru and Kempegowda International Airport, received 5cm till late Saturday night. "Forecasts indicate that Bengaluru's temperature will range between 34°C and 36°C over the next week," said CS Patil, senior scientist, IMD.
