Bhopal: A speeding SUV allegedly rammed into a car near the CSIR-AMPRI gate on Hoshangabad Road in Bag Sewania past midnight on Sunday. When the car driver confronted the SUV driver, he and his companions abused and assaulted him, and snatched his mobile phone before fleeing the scene.
Bag Sewania police registered a case on charges of accident, assault, and snatching against unidentified accused and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to ascertain their identity.
Bag Sewania SHO Amit Soni said that the complainant, Sumer Singh, 33, a resident of Alkapuri, runs an automobile workshop. He stated that he was returning home around 12:30am on May 4 after attending a friend's anniversary party. When he reached near the CSIR-AMPRI gate on Hoshangabad Road, a speeding SUV being driven recklessly collided with the left side of his car.
The impact caused significant damage to Sumer's vehicle. He stepped out of his car to advise the SUV driver to drive responsibly. However, the SUV driver and his companions exited the vehicle, began hurling abuses, and when Sumer objected, they physically assaulted him.
