Medical emergency: Flight makes unplanned landing at city airport
Bhopal: A non-scheduled flight from Bangalore to Chandigarh made an unplanned landing at Bhopal Airport on Saturday when a passenger fell ill. Following a medical assessment at the airport, the passenger was sent to hospital, and the aircraft continued its journey.
Director Airport, Ramjee Awasthi, said that at 2:11 pm, Air Traffic Control received notification about a medical emergency on Vistara flight AI2657 travelling from Bengaluru to Chandigarh, with a request to land at Bhopal Airport.
"The airport swiftly allocated Bay number 3 and alerted all necessary personnel, including ground handlers, airline staff, medical teams, fire services, and the Duty Terminal Manager," said Awasthi.
Landing at 2:20 pm, the passenger, who was suffering from low blood pressure, received medical attention. The patient and their companion were transferred first to the AAI Ambulance, then to a 108 Ambulance for hospital transport. The aircraft departed at 2:50 pm, with regular airport operations continuing uninterrupted.
