Berhampur: Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said Shishu Batikas will be opened this year in every primary school.
The joyful teaching through their mother tongue under NEP-2020 will enable students to understand their lessons, the chief minister said while addressing the centenary celebration of the Upper Primary School at Bhimpur in Ganjam district's Patrapur block.
He said NEP, which was formulated to impart quality education and to strengthen primary education, was not implemented in the state by the previous govt due to political motives. "The NEP will bring a revolution in the education system in the country," the CM said. "After we came to power, we have implemented it in the state. It will help students," Majhi added.
Apart from imparting quality education, the aim of the education policy is to build the students as a good citizen of the country and their role towards the nation, he said.
The CM criticised the previous govt's 5T school initiative and said internet facility was available in only 16% of schools.
He said his govt has launched Godabarish Mishra Model Primary School scheme, under which in every panchayat, there will be a primary school with all modern and infrastructure facilities. "Experienced and trained teachers will be appointed in these schools," Majhi said.
In order to arrest the dropout rate among tribal students, the CM said his govt has also launched the Sahid Madho Singh Hatakharach Scheme. The govt has allocated over Rs 3100 crore for primary schools in the current budget. "It will help to improve school education in the state," the CM said.
Earlier, the chief minister visited the Thakurani Yatra and offered prayers before the deities and witnessed the famous tiger dance.
