3 arrested for stabbing Class 12 student to death in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: UT police have arrested three persons for allegedly murdering a Class XII student in Ram Darbar on Saturday night. The incident allegedly occurred following an argument near a washroom, where the accused stabbed the victim with sharp-edged weapons, leading to his immediate death. Police obtained remand of the accused after producing them before the local court.
The accused have been identified as Gagandeep alias Anshi, Suraj alias Haryali, and Karan — residents of Ramdarbar.
On Saturday night, Vivek, along with his friend Manish and another person, was near Tu Hi Tu temple at 7.30pm. As soon as Vivek entered a public restroom, the three accused attacked him with knives multiple times, leaving him critically injured. The accused fled from the scene after the crime.
Passersby informed the police about the incident on 112, and a PCR unit arrived at the scene. Police rushed Vivek to GMCH-32 hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Upon receiving news of the murder, UT SSP Kanwardeep Kaur, DSP Jaswinder Singh and DSP Anurag arrived. Based on CCTV footage and eyewitness statements, Sector 31 police registered a case against the accused and apprehended them.
The police said the accused and the victim had an old enmity. However, Vivek's father said his son never got into fights. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem.
