Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) emphatic five-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) not only got them their first points in IPL 2025 but also propelled two of their star performers to the top of the Orange and Purple Cap standings.
Nicholas Pooran’s blistering knock of 70 off just 26 balls helped him become the tournament’s leading run-scorer, while Shardul Thakur’s sensational four-wicket haul made him the highest wicket-taker. With this victory, LSG also sent a strong message to the other teams, showing their firepower with both bat and ball.
Pooran has been in sublime form, amassing 145 runs in just two matches at a staggering strike rate of 258.92. His fearless approach against SRH, where he hammered seven boundaries and six sixes, made him a nightmare for the opposition.
He now leads the Orange Cap race, with his teammate Mitchell Marsh (124 runs) following closely behind in second place. Travis Head (114 runs) and
Ishan Kishan (106 runs), both from SRH, are also in the top five, but their performances weren’t enough to prevent their team’s defeat. Rajasthan Royals’ Dhruv Jurel (103 runs) completes the list, showcasing the rising talent in the league.
