NEW DELHI: Punjab Police on Thursday arrested an Army jawan in connection with the grenade attack at the home of Jalandhar-based YouTuber Rozer Sandhu last month. Identified as Sukhcharan Singh, the jawan was posted in Jammu and Kashmir and is accused of providing online training to one of the suspects on how to hurl a hand grenade.
The incident took place during the intervening night of March 15 and 16, when a grenade was thrown at Sandhu’s residence.
Fortunately, the grenade did not explode. Investigations later revealed the alleged involvement of Sukhcharan Singh, and the Army was duly informed of his role in the matter.
A court in Jalandhar has sent the jawan to five days of police remand, and further investigation is ongoing.

Following the attack, Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti reportedly claimed responsibility for the act, accusing the YouTuber of using derogatory language against the Muslim community.
So far, a total of seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
This incident adds to a series of recent grenade and low-intensity blast attacks in Punjab, particularly targeting police posts in Amritsar and Gurdaspur.
On April 8, a hand grenade exploded outside the residence of BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar district. Just last month, a blast was also reported outside a temple in Amritsar.
