Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Saturday took a swipe at
Shiromani Akali Dal chief
Sukhbir Singh Badal's recent "re-election" as party president.
"When did he resign?" Warring quipped when asked for his reaction during a press conference. He remarked that Sukhbir merely took a sabbatical for personal reasons and continued to wield influence within the party even after his supposed resignation, which, according to Warring, never formally happened.
He further alleged that Sukhbir defied the Akal Takht's directive, which clearly ordered his removal from the post of SAD president.
On the Punjab govt's decision to withdraw the National Security Act (NSA) against aides of jailed MP and radical preacher Amritpal Singh, Warring said, "Let the law take its own course." He added that the Congress party has full faith in the judiciary and the judicial process.
Regarding preparations for the upcoming Ludhiana West assembly by-election, Warring affirmed that the entire Congress organisation would work collectively to ensure the victory of party candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu.
"This isn't just Ashu's election, it's the Congress party's election. We will fight it together and we will win it," he asserted.
