Coimbatore: BJP state president has termed the all-party meeting convened by chief minister M K Stalin against NEET as a drama.
In a statement posted on social media on Wednesday, Annamalai said Stalin was enacting the anti–NEET drama for selfish reasons.
Annamalai said the BJP has boycotted the meeting.
He dared the chief minister to approach the Supreme Court seeking a ban on Neet instead of holding such meetings that are of no use.
"CM will not approach the SC because he is aware that the court would not entertain such pleas," Annamalai said.
"The DMK govt, which is going to court to seek a stay on the probe into Tasmac corruption, has not gone to court against Neet in four years since coming to power. Why are you making a drama by holding an all-party meeting and passing a resolution?'' he asked.
"Why is the CM, who lies that Neet has affected govt school students, hiding the fact that only 38 govt school students got into medical colleges from Tamil Nadu from 2007– 2016 when there was no NEET exam?" he asked.
Only after the introduction of Neet, the number of govt school students pursuing medical education has increased, Annamalai said. He also questioned the absence of data in the A K Rajan committee report about TN govt school students enrolling in medical colleges from 2010 to 2014.
Annamalai said that only after the introduction of the NEET exam, students from government schools and those from poor backgrounds got the opportunity to study medicine.
