A lot of animosity came for Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner because he gave away 4 goals in the first 17 shots to the Los Angeles Kings. One X user wrote, “You guys need a new goalie”, and another fan said the Edmonton Oilers would have won if Calvin Pickard was the goaltender and not Stuart Skinner - “That’d be a win if Pickard was playing.”
Another fan called out two Oilers players - ice hockey defenseman Evan Bouchard and goaltender Stuart Skinner - “Skinner is a horrendous goalie, then add Bouchard and you have a recipe for disaster…Skinner should never had started the third (Bouchard should have been loading the bus), that loss is on the coaching staff.”
Guess, these two players took the most heat, “Bouchard is a 5-6 on any other team in the playoffs. He can’t play against other teams top 6! Absolutely horrible! How deflating to come all the way back and Skinner let’s that in for the game winning goal!”

26-year-old Stuart Skinner accumulated 26 wins, 3 shutouts, 2.81 goals against average, and save percentage of .896 in 51 games of 2024-2025 NHL season. Skinner accumulated 98 wins, 7 shutouts, 2.73 goals against average, and save percentage of .906 in his 174 career NHL games.
Edmonton Oilers shared an X post on their platform with the final score of the Oilers vs Kings match on April 22. More than 500 comments are there on that post. But most of them were directed toward Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner and ice hockey defenseman Evan Bouchard. Some fans wanted Calvin Pickard to start Game 1 and expressed that Pickard should start Game 2 and not Stuart Skinner. Here are some of the comments,
