Woman, her son electrocuted

A 70-year-old woman and her son were electrocuted in a farm house at Gopalpathy in Angalakurichi near Pollachi on Thursday evening.

COIMBATORE: A 70-year-old woman and her son were electrocuted in a farm house at Gopalpathy in Angalakurichi near Pollachi on Thursday evening. The deceased were identified as M Pappathi and her son, M Ravikumar, 50, hailing from Gopalpathy village in Angalakurichi. Aliyar police said Ravikumar was a farmer and was residing along with his wife R Poongodi, 45, son R Ranjith Kumar, 25 and his mother in the farm house.

On Thursday, Ravikumar, after taking bath, was drying his wet towel when it came in contact with a live wire. As he got electrocuted, his mother Pappathi who tried to save him was also electrocuted.
Ranjith Kumar who tried to rescue the duo using a rubber tube also got an electric shock and suffered injuries on his hand. Poongodi who also tried to save her husband and mother in-law suffered minor injuries after getting electric shocks. Poongodi and Ranjith Kumar were admitted to a private hospital at Pollachi and their condition is said to be stable. The two dead bodies were kept at Kottur government hospital for postmortem.
