Dehradun: The
Indian Army's Central Command and Uttarakhand sub-area, as part of the ongoing outreach initiative by director general Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), conducted an event under the ‘Join the Armed Forces Medical Services' campaign. This event was organised for the students and trainees at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) in Dehradun on Tuesday.
PRO Defence (Dehradun), Lt Col Manish Srivastava, informed that a team of Army officers, headed by Brig Parikshit Singh, Commandant of Military Hospital Dehradun, along with Col AW Kashif, Lt Col Ankit Dangi, and Maj Garima Chaudhary, conducted a presentation. This was done in the presence of Dr Geeta Jain, principal of GDMC, and Dr RS Bisht, medical superintendent. The presentation provided an insightful perspective on the Armed Forces Medical Services, highlighting its unique blend of a fulfilling career and the opportunity to serve the nation as doctors in uniform in various positions, including clinicians, super specialists, teachers, researchers, and administrators.
He added that the session was attended by about 130 medicos, comprising final-year MBBS students and interns of the college. Dr (Major) Gaurav Makhija (Retd), associate professor of the department of paediatrics, GDMC, facilitated the conduct of the event.
