Probe begins into forged papers with judge’s sign
New Delhi: Delhi police has launched an investigation into a case of two forged legal documents bearing the signature of a judge, allegedly issued by fraudsters.
One document is related to an arrest, while the other is on asset seizure. A case has been registered, and an investigation is under way.
The forgery came to light when the cyber police station of New Delhi district registered an FIR following a complaint alleging misuse of his name and designation in fabricated legal documents. The complainant informed police that he received WhatsApp messages containing forged documents — including a warrant of arrest and an asset seizure order — supposedly issued by him. The documents were allegedly circulated in connection with two separate cases registered at Connaught Place police station.
The first message, received last year, contained a forged warrant of arrest. Later, in Dec the same year, another message featuring an asset seizure order was sent to the complainant. Both documents falsely named a judge as the issuing authority, bearing his forged signature and an incorrect judicial title.
