IMD issues yellow alert for heat today, tomorrow, temp to hit 37C

Panaji: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heat over Goa for Monday and Tuesday. Hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail over isolated pockets of the state during this time. As per IMD’s criteria for heat, a yellow alert stands for ‘heat alert’ when heat wave conditions are likely to persist for two days.
The maximum temperatures are very likely to be around 35-37C over the state on both days. “Temperature outlook maximum temperature very likely above normal,” the forecast read. Over the next 24 hours, there is a clear sky forecast and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 23C .
The IMD has forecast that the weather is very likely to be dry over North Goa and South Goa districts till Saturday.
The forecast says that the maximum temperature is very likely to be around 35-37C and minimum around 21-23C for the next seven days.
On Sunday, the state experienced the first day of the yellow alert warning. Panaji recorded a maximum temperature of 37C, which is 4.4C above normal, while Mormugao recorded 35.8C, which is a departure from normal by nearly 4C.
