An FIR has also been registered against him at Agasaim police station.
A fact-finding committee had been formed by GU, based on a complaint filed against Naik alleging the paper leak by a group of activists led by Kashinath Shetye at Agasaim police station earlier this month.
The fact-finding committee’s report was called by GU chancellor and governor P S Sreedharan Pillai to decide on the further course of action. The report was later placed before the EC for deliberation.
In addition, state govt too has formed a high-level inquiry committee in the matter under retired high court judge RMS Khandeparkar.
