When greats of the greats talk. When greats of the greats wish. When greats of the greats feel happy for other greats! That’s what we mean when we say that the NFL’s 7-time Super Bowl Champion, Tom Brady, and the NBA’s 4-time Champion, LeBron James, wished NHL’s record-setter Alex Ovechkin.
39 YO Alex Ovechkin broke Wayne Gretzky’s record of most-scored career NHL goals - 894 on Sunday. The game, though lost by his team, Washington Capitals, secured that one prime goal. That one goal that distinguished Alex Ovechkin from Wayne Gretzky. Alex Ovechkin and Wayne Gretzky were tied at 894 career NHL goals. And now, as fate would have it, Alex Ovechkin leads the chart and is ahead of Wayne Gretzky at 895!
The 895th goal was at Sunday’s match between the Washington Capitals and the New York Islanders. The score was 4-1, New York Islanders won. Thanks to their goaltender, Ilya Sorokin, that 895th career NHL goal of Alex Ovechkin was allowed by Sorokin! This insurmountable moment was caught by other leagues, namely, the NFL and the NBA. And, so, the wishes of greats of the greats of the NFL and the NBA poured in!



Tom Brady, 7-time Super Bowl Champion in the National Football League, wished National Hockey League’s record-setter, 39 YO Alexander Ovechkin, congratulations. 47 YO Tom Brady shared in his congratulatory video over IG, “Ovi(Alex Ovechkin), what’s up, my man? Congratulations. You did it, man! You reached the summit. Nobody should be surprised. You smashed the record, and you are still playing the game at the highest level. You’re showing everybody and all athletes, all sports, that no matter what, you can always raise the bar, and you have done that. So, thanks for your inspiration. Thanks for your commitment to greatness, and congratulations.”


4-time NBA Champion and 4-time NBA MVP, 40 YO LeBron James, wished Alex Ovechkin congratulations, saying, “Alex(Ovechkin)! Congratulations, man. On being the NHL’s All-Time Leading Goal Scorer, man. It’s an unbelievable accomplishment. And I know when reaching any type of goal or any type of feat, it takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice, and you are a by-product of that. So, I just wanna say from one guy to the next, super, super-grateful to be able to witness some of your greatest moments, witness this great moment, and it couldn’t happen to a better guy, man.
