‘QR code for waste collection payment at Chicalim soon’

Vasco: In the next three months, govt will launch a pilot project in Chicalim panchayat to receive fees for door-to-door waste collection through QR code, said panchayat minister Mauvin Godinho.
Chicalim will be the first civic body to introduce such a programme, said Godinho while speaking at a function held for the third phase of expansion of Wealth Out of Waste (WooW) plant.
He said the facility handles about 15 tonnes of garbage daily and of this, 6 tonnes is wet waste. “The WooW plant will shortlty start providing raw water facility to joggers’ park through a dedicated pipeline. This initiative needs to be replicated by other panchayats too,” he said.
The second plant has been proposed in Mandrem. The Industrial Development Council (IDC) has agreed to allocate land to set up the plant.
