Nuh police arrest 15 cyber fraudsters for online job and sales scam in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: As many as 15 cyber fraudsters from different places in Nuh were arrested for buying SIM cards by submitting forged documents and creating fake social media accounts to make fraudulent calls.
"The fraudsters were caught after a tip-off and tracking of phone numbers involved in cyber frauds. They were arrested from different places in Nuh on Wednesday by 13 police teams," said cybercrime inspector Vimal Rai.
According to police, the accused promised their targets jobs and offered to sell clothes, cattle and tyres at cheap rates.
"They posted advertisements on social media platforms, offering to sell clothes, tyres, cows, and buffaloes for a low price. They collected money from the victims, saying it was advance payment, and later blocked them. They also collected money from victims after offering them jobs where they were supposed to pack Natraj pencils from home," a Nuh police spokesperson said.
Police seized 13 cell phones and 24 SIM cards from the fraudsters' possession. According to the spokesperson, the SIM cards were procured from Assam and Bihar. Using the SIM cards obtained through fraudulent means, the cons largely targeted people from Assam, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
As many as 12 cases were registered against the accused under sections including 318 (4) (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 319 (cheating by personation) of BNS.
"All the accused were produced before the court and sent to judicial remand on Thursday," inspector Vimal Rai said.
They were identified as Sauyab from Badoji village, Waris from Alawalpur village, Naseem from Bichhor, Haseen Khan from Punhana, Luqman from Ghida, Aleem from Badha, Hakam from Bajlaka, Faisar Ali and Mustakim from Salahedi, Sohail Khan and Saleem from Raiwasan, Sahil from Tundlaka, Sahyar from Maroda, Sameem from Navali in Nuh district, and Aashiq from Lalpur in Kama police station limits of Rajasthan.
