16th FC to discuss fund allocation for Mizoram

Aizawl: The 16th Finance Commission led by its chairman Arvind Panagariya arrived in Aizawl on Sunday for a three-day visit to Mizoram for discussion on the allocation of funds for the state for the coming five years starting from 2026 fiscal, officials said.
Panagariya, while proceeding towards Aizawl from the lone Lengpui airport, conducted a study on the sinking area at Hunthar in western outskirts of Aizawl. Officials of the state PWD and disaster management & rehabilitation department explained to the 16th FC that the land sank in the area between 1990 till last year.
The FC chairman and members will hold a meeting with CM Lalduhoma as well as state govt officials on Monday.
