Imphal: Superintendent of police (SP) of Kangpokpi district in Manipur has issued a notice advising personnel not to attend a meeting called by the Kangchup Area Protection and Development Committee (KAPDC) under Kuki Inpi of South West Sadar Hills.
The meeting is planned for April 30 in K Ponlen village and involves members of civil police, Manipur Rifles (MR), and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) from Kuki villages in the area.
In the directive, the SP declared KAPDC a "fictitious and illegal organisation" and warned that uniformed personnel attending the meeting would face charges of gross service misconduct and strict disciplinary action.
This notice has been directed to relevant police officials in Kangpokpi district for compliance and reporting.
In response, on April 21, the KAPDC secretary refuted claims regarding the meeting, asserting that the organisation did not call for such a gathering.
The KAPDC termed the directive as a "misleading action by anti-Kuki elements" aiming to tarnish the reputation of Kuki civil societies, including the Kuki Inpi and KAPDC. Furthermore, it clarified that the circular is false, baseless, and part of a "destructive agenda" targeting the Kuki community and the suspension of operations leadership.
