Belagavi top cop takes action on offensive social media content
Belagavi: In the backdrop of increasing communal incidents, the Belagavi police have become strict against communal offenders in the city, especially amid the ongoing month of Ramazan. The police are targeting habitual offenders who try to create communal disturbances in society by posting offensive content on social media platforms.
A couple of days ago, the city police paraded more than 220 communal offenders and drug peddlers in the city from the limits of 13 police stations.
Meanwhile, Market police arrested a 19-year-old youth from Bhadakal Galli who posted communally controversial content on Instagram and registered an FIR against him. City police commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang advised the public to use social media with caution.
"Any posts or comments that spread hate or division based on language, religion, caste, or any other reason will result in strict legal action. Before posting, be mindful that your posts and comments could disturb the peace of the city," police commissioner Marbaniang alerted in his release.
