Belagavi: Deputy commissioner Mohammad Roshan said that the land acquisition process for the railway line project connecting Belagavi to Dharwad via Kittur is almost completed, and the land handover process to the railway department will take place soon. Thereafter, the railway department will call a tender for the project within a couple of months.
Speaking to the media in Belagavi on Monday, the deputy commissioner said that the time has come for the long-awaited dream of the Belagavi-Dharwad railway line to come true. Out of the 1,200 acres of land required for the project, approximately 600 acres of land was acquired earlier. In the last five months, the land acquisition process for 600 acres was completed. Compensation for 750 acres of land was already released, and money is expected to be released for the remaining land.
The central govt and the state govt have worked with full cooperation to realise the ambitious project of providing direct railway service between Belagavi and Dharwad via Kittur and Desoor. In the future, those going to Bengaluru will not have to travel around Londa village. Superfast express trains will reach Belagavi very soon via Kittur. Since the land acquisition process is complete, the Railway Board will call for tenders, he said.
