Kalaburagi: Kalaburagi SP Addur Srinivasalu announced that the Shahabad Town police apprehended two individuals involved in sheep theft cases from Old Shahabad and Malagatti villages in Shahabad taluk in Kalaburagi district. During a press conference at the Police Bhavan on Wednesday, he confirmed the arrest of Khemya Shankar Rathod from Kurukamba tanda and Saibanna Galeppa from Horanchi tanda, both in Yadgir taluk. Police recovered 8 sheep valued at Rs 40,000, Rs 1.6 lakh in cash, and items worth Rs 2 lakh. Additionally, they seized Rs 81,000 in cash, a Tata goods vehicle used in the theft, and items valued at Rs 2.8 lakh in a separate case. The SP informed that one suspect, Channappa Dasaratha Chavan from Mundaragi, a small town of Yadgir taluk, remains at large, with police actively searching for him.
The incidents involved the theft of 30 sheep and 10 lambs from Shivraya Hajappa Hubballi's residence in Old Shahabad, along with 12 sheep and 6 goats from Nagaraja Shantappa Saloli's house in Malagatti village. Under additional SP Mahesh Meghannanavar and Shahabad DSP Shankar Gowda Patil's supervision, two teams were formed.
The SP noted that the accused had cases registered against them in Yadgir, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and other locations. He commended the police teams for their successful efforts in apprehending the livestock thieves.
