CM Revanth Reddy directs swift execution of 49 link roads to ease traffic
Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to prioritise public convenience and future needs while executing the construction of 49 link roads in Hyderabad and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority region.
Emphasising seamless connectivity, he stressed that the project should minimise travel time and ensure hassle-free commuting. He also made it clear that land acquisition should not pose a hurdle, regardless of the cost involved.
Reviewing the progress of municipal administration and urban development at the Integrated Command and Control Centre on Saturday, the CM discussed the status of link road development projects being undertaken by the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation (HRDCL) and the HMDA.
The HRDCL has identified 49 link roads for development at an estimated cost of ₹1,057.41 crore, with work set to be executed in two phases. Some of the key road projects include Vanasthalipuram Road to Old Hayathnagar Road via Saheb Nagar Road, Badangpet-Nadergul Main Road to Nadergul Road, Thorrur to Nagarjunasagar Road, Government Upper Primary School to Kokapet, Inner Ring Road to DLRL Colony via TKR College Road, Ameenpur Village to HMT Colony in Miyapur, Raj Bhavan Road to R&B Guest House, Begumpet Railway Station to Prakash Nagar and Brahmanwadi railway track and Qutbullapur Road to Pipeline Road via St Anthony's High School at Vennalagadda Cheruvu.
The CM underscored the importance of long-term planning, urging officials to factor in future traffic demands when designing and expanding link roads.
Highlighting the need for efficient infrastructure, he reiterated that the focus should not only be on reducing congestion but also on saving commuters' time. He reassured that while land acquisition might be expensive, it should not become a roadblock to executing these essential projects.
The review meeting was attended by key officials, including CM's advisor Vem Narender Reddy, state govt advisor (infrastructure) Srinivasa Raju, chief secretary A Santhi Kumari, principal secretaries V Seshadri and Chandrasekhar Reddy, special secretary Ajith Reddy, HMDA commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, and principal secretary for municipal administration and urban development Dana Kishore.
